Pongify + Strangleroot Geist + removal?

So let's say my opponent does Path to Exile or Lightning Bolt on my Strangleroot Geist, and I response Pongify it, will my dude still be exiled / die?

No.
When an object changes zones, it is treated as a new object. It doesn't retain information about its previous states.
When Path resolves, there will be a Geist on the battlefield, and it will be the same card that was targeted by Path, but it's not the same object, because the Geist changed zones twice.
Path doesn't have a legal target anymore and is put into the graveyard from the stack withot doing anything (it "fizzles").
