Yes that works. Nihiloor's second ability isn't written to depend on a particular way the opponent-owned creatures were acquired. It will trigger from any opponent-owned creature you attack with.
Just to be clear, a player "owns" cards they started the game with or brought into the game, tokens created under their control, and other objects created under their control/ownership (copies of spells, planeswalker emblems, etc.).
