New Odric

Asked by Red-Skull 8 years ago

How would Odric, Lunarch Marshal ability interact with a soldier deck that has Field Marshal in it? would my soldiers get all the abilities?

I'm kind of having to guess at exactly what question you're asking. Let me know if I'm wrong.

"The same is true for..." doesn't mean your creatures also get flying, deathtouch, double strike, etc. if one of your creatures has first strike. It means:

  • At the beginning of each combat, creatures you control gain flying until end of turn if a creature you control has flying
  • At the beginning of each combat, creatures you control gain deathtouch until end of turn if a creature you control has deathtouch
  • At the beginning of each combat, creatures you control gain double strike until end of turn if a creature you control has double strike
  • etc.

In your example with Field Marshal, your creatures will get first strike again. Multiple instances of first strike are redundant, and don't really do anything special.

I believe you are asking if the ability (first strike) given by Field Marshal counts as a creature you control, if a soldier is given this ability. The answer is yes to this question.

If you are asking if all of your creatures will gain all possible abilities granted by Odric, Lunarch Marshal, then the answer is no, they will not.

however, so long as Field Marshal can give first strike to a soldier, Odric, Lunarch Marshal will give all of your creatures first strike (regardless of whether they are a soldier or not).

Field Marshal would also gain first strike through this
