Landfall trigger, use land that triggered it?

Asked by Shwang 7 years ago

What's up TappedOut community,

Can you help me out with something? I'll take you through my question and the situation that triggered (hah) it.

I had 4 mana out. I played Akoum Stonewaker. Then I played my land for the turn. This triggered Akoum Stonewaker's ability. Can I use that land that just came into play to pay for his ability?

Thanks!

As long as the land comes into play untapped and is not a creature (because summoning sickness would apply) you may activate it's mana ability to pay for costs of activated or triggered abilities (including landfall) as soon as it comes out.

Note that land and mana are not the same thing. Lands produce mana, but you don't have mana "out," as in "on the field."
