Is Gaea's Blessing exiled due to Hedron Crab & Ravenous Trap

Asked by uth_matar 9 years ago

Hedron Crab is in play and I play a land, which triggers the 3 card mill.
These 3 cards are all at once...NOT 1, 2, and 3, right?

If Gaea's Blessing is the 1st or 2nd card, can I still respond with Ravenous Trap?

Does Gaea's Blessing get exiled, or does it get shuffled back into the deck, assuming it's my turn and i want to stack things to mill?

What if this is done during my opponents turn?

Go TurboFog ! :)

First question: They're all put into the graveyard at the same time and the owner chooses the order. If they needed to be put into the graveyard in some sequence then the effect would look like the current Oracle text for Rally the Horde, which is a mess. Yuck.

Next questions: You're allowed to respond, the whole graveyard will be exiled, and it doesn't matter whose turn it is.

Details: A triggered ability (starts with "when/whenever/at") will trigger whenever the appropriate event happens, but it waits to be put onto the stack until the next time a player would get priority. In this case Gaea's Blessing's last ability triggers during the resolution of Hedron Crab's ability, and is put onto the stack after the Crab's ability is completely finished resolving. You're allowed to respond with Ravenous Trap (and can use the alternate "Trap cost") before the Blessing's ability starts to resolve. The answer to this question is different if it involves a card with a replacement effect (has "as/with/instead/prevent" somewhere in the text), like Progenitus. In that case you apply the effect during the resolution of Crab's ability and the card is already back in the library before you can respond with the Trap (and the "Trap cost" condition won't be fulfilled).
