Insurrection and Sliver Overlord

So I was playing Commander with my friends and I dropped an Insurrection and it resolved. One of my opponents was running slivers, and we ended up getting in a dispute over whether or not I could use Sliver Overlord to "gain control of ability" and take control of most of his slivers due to Gemhide Sliver , and we were not sure if this could be done because 1 I already controlled them and 2 Insurrection specified that the gain control of is until end of turn.

It is. Sliver Overlord 's ability doesn't specify a duration. Insurrection 's control-changing effect will end at end of turn, but Sliver Overlord 's ability will still have precedence.
