Indestructible vs. Languish + damage

Asked by zandl 8 years ago

Having a bit of an argument with a friend. I have out a copy of Erebos's Titan and I cast Languish, which will wipe his board and make my Titan a 1/1 indestructible.

Before Languish resolves, he goes and hits the Titan with Lightning Strike, then says it does because all the creatures get -4/-4 and die at the same time, and the Titan is a 1/1 with 3 damage without indestructible.

Not entirely sure on what happens. Any clarity would be appreciated.

After Languish resolves, state-based actions will be checked and every creature with toughness 0 or less will be put into their owner's graveyard, and every creature with lethal damage marked on it will be destroyed. Both of those things happen simultaneously. Erebos's Titan will be destroyed because it doesn't have indestructible at the time that state-based check begins.
