Ghirapur Orrery Flicker

Asked by Opifex 7 years ago

If I use Ghostly Flicker on Ghirapur Orrery, do I get to play another additional land per turn?

No. If a player gets extra land drops from a permanent's ability and the permanent leaves the battlefield, they lose the extra land drop. So you essentially flicker it, losing the land drop and gaining it again to no effect.

The reason for this is that the Orrey has a continuous effect, which applies from the moment it enters the battlefield until the moment it leaves.

Relevant rule:
611.3b The effect applies at all times that the permanent generating it is on the battlefield or the object generating it is in the appropriate zone.

So repeatedly casting Urban Evolution does?

Yes, repeated Urban Evolutions do give you repeated extra land drops.

I am confused by the "additional" not still applying after it renters. I play 2 land then flicker it, it is then a new object and it says "additional land"

305.2a To determine whether a player can play a land, compare the number of lands the player can play this turn with the number of lands he or she has already played this turn (including lands played as special actions and lands played during the resolution of spells and abilities). If the number of lands the player can play is greater, the play is legal.

When you flicker it, your land count goes from being able to play 2 lands a turn, to 1 land a turn. When it enters again, it goes back up to 2 lands a turn. Since you already played your 2 lands, you can't play a third.
