Game of Chaos questions

Asked by Ziembski 6 years ago

First of all:

Can I change target player in Game of Chaos each time someone decided to flip again? Or Once I picked target opponent, I must stay with him?

And another question is if I Radiate Game of Chaos, would it be copied for each opponent?

These old cards were "reworded" in a sense. This is how the card should read:

Flip a coin. If you win the flip, you gain 1 life and target opponent loses 1 life, and you decide whether to flip again. If you lose the flip, you lose 1 life and that opponent gains 1 life, and that player decides whether to flip again. Double the life stakes with each flip.

So everytime you win a flip you can target a different opponent if you choose.

As for Radiate, yes it will copy Game of Chaos. But I'm not to sure exactly how much life loss the copies would cause.

You can check magiccards.info for updated card text as well as rulings on the card.

I know about rewording, it actually was the cause of those questions. Another situation and question:

When do I choose player? Before or after flipping? It seems like the latter. If yes, is situation like this possible?

Playing 3 or 4 multiplayer FFA EDH game

Cast Game of Chaos

Flip and win, choosing player A

Flip again, choosing player A if won, and player B if lost, knowing he will decide to flip again

Flipping until player A losts all HP

Last flip decides if its me or player B goin down with player A

It appears that you choose before you flip, because if you lose the flip, it refers to the same opponent rather than "target opponent." This should mean that the target opponent of each flip should be declared before the flip.

But it doesn't really says to target opponent unless I flip the coin. Any rules to approve this?

You choose a target for Game of Chaos as you cast it. There is no way to change the target later except for spells and abilities like Redirect, which you cannot cast or activate while Game of Chaos is resolving. Therefore, "target opponent" remains the same during resolution.

As for Radiate, each of the copies is a different object, and will not share any doubling with the original. The different targets are chosen as Radiate resolves, and also cannot be changed except for spells and abilities like Redirect.

See Comp. Rules 114 and Comp. Rules 706, specifically Rule 114.1 for targeting.
