Does Twinning Staff see multiple triggers separately?

Asked by Artificer12 2 years ago

Say I have Melek, Izzet Paragon, Harmonic Prodigy (Veyran, Voice of Duality would also work) and Twinning Staff in play.

If I cast something like Brainstorm (really, any spell) off the top of my deck with Melek, I know Harmonic Prodigy will cause Melek to copy the spell twice, currently resulting in adding 3 Brainstorms to the stack.

What I'm currently unsure of is how many copies I will get off Twinning Staff. I know it's at least one, giving me 4 Brainstorms, but I suspect that the second trigger of Melek counts as a separate instance of copying, giving me another Twinning Staff copy, resulting in 5 Brainstorms being placed on the stack.

Is this the correct interpretation? Or does the second Melek trigger still count as "Copying one more times"?

Yes, you have the right idea. Each trigger resolves separately and creates a separate event of copying a spell. Twinning Staff will apply to each of those events.
