Does this odd card interaction work?

So I was thinking today about Quicksilver Elemental and I thought about what would happen if you target Elite Arcanist? I would assume that Quicksilver Elemental would get the cast ability but because there is no spell imprinted on Quicksilver Elemental, it would cast nothing. I am no rules expert so I figured I should ask in case there is some rule that makes this different.
Even if Quicksilver Elemental manages to exile a card with some other copied ability, it won't be able to cast anything with Elite Arcanist's ability, as Elite Arcanist's two abilities are linked.

On a totally unrelated note on elite arcanist, try Triton Tactics + Zhur-Taa Druid for a really broken combo

Oh I am aware of the amazing combo of Elite Arcanist and Triton Tactics. Although I usually pair him with someone who makes two or more mana upon tapping so I go infinite but that works too.

The druid pays for the arcanist's tap ability and deals a damage, it's better than infinite mana. If i wanted infinite mana I would color in the border of a Mox Lotus and say it's special edition lol. Jk jk. I like infinite mana but the druid makes an instant win condition

You can't cast anything with the copied ability.
