does this merieke combo work?

if you use something like Quicksilver Elemental to copy the ability of Merieke Ri Berit do you get to keep the creature at the end of your turn. the "untap" and "leaves play" never trigger but im not sure about the "for as long as you control" part. even though you still have control of Quicksilver Elemental it no longer has the condition saying you control the other creature.

Actually, it's all one ability:

: Gain control of target creature for as long as you control Merieke Ri Berit. When Merieke Ri Berit leaves the battlefield or becomes untapped, destroy that creature. It can't be regenerated.

The entire ability is copied, so the duration definitions apply as well.

And just to clarify, because I realized this was part of your question, the ability is applied at the time the control-changing effect is created. Even though Quicksilver Elemental loses the ability, the effect is still, well, in effect, and its duration has already been defined. You retain control of the controlled creature for as long as you control Quicksilver Elemental. If Quicksilver Elemental becomes untapped or leaves the battlefield, you destroy the controlled creature.

ok that makes sense, I thought that maybe at the next upkeep since quicksilver no longer has the clause stating that the creature is destroyed when it untaps that I would get to keep the creature indefinitely. this is definitely still useful but not as good as I thought it was. it severs a similar function as Illusionist's Bracers but at a higher cost, still couldn't hurt to have both.
