Does Defense of the Heart goes into the graveyard before the end of its resolving?

Asked by mahdik 7 years ago

At the beginning of my upkeep, my opponent have 3 creatures, so it triggers. Does it goes to the graveyard before I put 2 creatures from my library on the battlefield? Or does it wait until the 2 creatures are on the battlefield before passing from the battlefield to the grave, finishing its sacrificing? does the sacrifice needs to finish completely and put the enchantment into the grave before commencing the tutor (considering on the oracle, the sacrificing is BEFORE the tutoring)?

I ask because if it goes to the grave BEFORE the 2 creatures comes into play, I can (or not, that's why I ask) search Eternal Witness and target it again from the graveyard to play it again during the turn.

If I cannot I will target 2 big beaters, it's simple. The card is not less good anyhow.

Defense goes to the graveyard before the creatures enter. However, this is not necessary for the Witness shenanigans. The Witness trigger goes on the stack after the Defense trigger FULLY resolves. That is also when you choose a target for the Witness trigger.
