Deflecting Swat against Zur the Enchanter

Asked by asteroid01 1 year ago

Let's say that Zur the Enchanter attacks an opponent, triggering his ability to search for an enchantment. Zur's controller grabs an enchantment aura such as Hyena Umbra . Would you be able to Deflecting Swat the enchantment aura, choosing a new creature to enchant?

Or, if you chose to deflecting swat Zur's ability, would you be able to target yourself, and then search for an enchantment of your own?

Unfortunately, you won't be able to use Deflecting Swat on the ability of Zur the Enchanter as the ability does not have any targets.

Zur the Enchanter simply allows its controller (not target player) to search their library for an enchantment card (not a target enchantment card) and put it to the battlefield. Nowhere does it explicitly say target which is what Deflecting Swat requires.

Also, since the enchantment enters the battlefield directly, it is not cast as a spell and does not target either. It is simply attached to a permanent it could enchant. This is one of the ways to bypass shroud as well.
