Copy spliced spells?
Asked by -Logician 8 years ago
If I have two Desperate Rituals in hand, and I cast one and splice the other to that first one, then I have one desperate ritual on the stack that stands to add RRRRRR to my mana pool. If I copy that instance of desperate ritual, do I get a copy of the originally printed Desperate Ritual, or do I get a copy of this 6 red mana ritual?
To put it more simply, does this result in 9 red mana or 12 red mana.
- Cast Desperate Ritual.
- Splice into arcane another Desperate Ritual in my hand to the one I'm casting.
- Use Izzet Guildmage's ability to copy that spell.

You will get 12 mana. Izzet Guildmage copies the spell as it is on the stack, including the added RRR. This works the same way with modal/split spells.
