Can I search for Summoner's Pact with Ancient Stirrings?

Asked by mafokoko 8 years ago

The card boarder on the Summoner's Pact although is green, is it a colourless card, can I search for it with Ancient Stirrings? The card text on Ancient Stirrings states that "cards with no coloured mana symbols in their mana costs are colourless. Lands are also colouless." So, because Summoner's Pact has nothing but 0 colourless mana, is it colourless?

No, it's still Green. Summoner's Pact has what is called a "Color Indicator":

204.1. The color indicator is printed to the left of the type line directly below the illustration. It consistsof a circular symbol filled in with one or more colors. A color indicator is usually found on nonlandcards without a mana cost

Notice the circle on the type line of Summoner's Pact. This is called a "color indicator" symbol, and for Summoner's Pact it happens to be a Green color indicator (compare to the Black one on Slaughter Pact). This means Summoner's Pact is Green, not colorless.

The color indicator symbols hadn't yet been introduced to the game when Ancient Stirrings was printed, so that's why its reminder text doesn't mention them. It can't be used to pick Summoner's Pact.
