Can enchantments have protection from any color?

Asked by mtghypatia 9 years ago

I'm having fun with my friends using my Frozen Pestilence deck, but I'm very weak against removal.

To counter that, I'm thinking of using Faith's Shield to protect my Pestilence against things like Oblivion Ring and Detention Sphere . Can an enchanment have protection from some color to avoid the removal efect of this cards?

Yes they may. Protection is not an ability exclusive to creatures, any kind of permanent (or even players) can have protection.

I'm not sure what you mean by your question. Yes, enchantments can be given protection from a color for example by Faith's Shield . They are permanents, so this works on them. Or are you asking for specific card suggestions? If so, please ask in the Deck Help section of the forums. Q&A is reserved for questions about rules and obscure card interactions.

I wanted to know if I can save Pestilence from removal spell using Faith's Shield . From GreatSword I understand I can :)

Yes, protection will save your enchantment. The ability will be countered for not having any legal targets when it resolves.

Thanks! Do you think Faith's Shield is the best alternative for my deck?
