Can Archelos, Lagoon Mystic dictate how itself enters the battlefield?

Asked by Yesterday 2 years ago

Just encountered what I currently assume was a bug in MTGO.

I controlled a tapped Archelos, Lagoon Mystic and created a token copy of it with Mirrorpool. There were no other effects on board dictating in which state permanents should enter the battlefield.

The game gave me the option of having the token copy enter untapped.

Is this a bug? If not, why was I given that option?

It was a bug, the replacement effect would apply to the token entering the battlefield and then you would have to put one of the Archelos into the graveyard as an SBA. The non-token one is out when the token enters and should apply.
