The Competitive meter is a hilarious trip.

We can all agree this is the most fickle and least useful feature of the site right? Lol, this feature is usually wildly inaccurate and it seems like it just keeps becoming less and less effective at judging competitive strength of various decks.

Why people get to vote to move the meter is also a mystery... Decks don't get more competitive because some one clicked a button to move the meter, nor do they get less competitive because some one clicked the button. So that aspect is just silly nonsense, and entirely pointless.

None the less, I still find it hilarious that when I swap out a random land for a basic and smash the update button I can watch some of my older lists go from 99% to 70%. Kind of get a kick out of any new updates instantly knocking a deck down to "average" despite the updates being functional upgrades.

Probably best to just turn this feature off since it's useless and misleading, but the laughs... I just can't do it... Must. Have. The. Chuckles!

I like to think of it like power levels from Dragon Ball Z

"What's the scouter say?"

"His powerlevel is over 9000!"

"ZOMG!"

"Wait, no, my mistake, it's 5."

"Oh, no worries then. I can totally own this Goku fella."

I think it's basically self referential. If a card is in a lot of decks that get marked Competitive, the meter assumes that card is competitive. If not, then it's casual. Self-selecting sampling bias at its finest.

It might be an interesting experiment some day to get a big chunk of people to try to make some random card marked as Competitive. If like 500 make a deck of 56 Island and 4 Fugitive Wizard, and everyone marks it as Competitive, will the system think the Wizard is a competitive card?

I know that Wandering Ones is a hyper competitive card in Kamigawa Block Pauper Tiny Leaders, and from experience. My playgroup decided to ban it. Not entirely sure but I think Wandering Ones is objectively better than Fugitive Wizard

Well clearly they are both superior to Storm Crow, and we know with certainty that the crow is a hyper competitive card.

Thankfully Storm Crow is nowhere near KBPTL.

You can pitch both cards to force, of course they are hyper competetive!
