So I hate friends....

I've had an idea for a while now, an idea for a cube in which nobody wins and everybody loses. LRR gave me the inspiration and Wedge from TheManaSource has given me quite a bit of cards, but I still have a few problems for this Cube I want to make. The Cube will be the infamous Strictly Worse cube and I want to make it and lose all of my friends with it.

  1. While I know how to play Cube, I've never made one. So I need help on numbers and whatnot.

  2. I only have about 60-80 cards worth that I'll be putting in so I need more horrible cards, any card that has ever made you ask why or rip up on the spot because of how pathetic it was, let me know about it.

Later I'll go through and comment all the cards I'm already considering so none overlap. I understand that I'm evil for attempting to build this, but hey, I don't care it'll be so much fun to watch the people who play with me squirm and hate their lives. All help is appreciated. :)

Zaueski,
Sorry, but I've never built Cube. Here are a couple articles I bookmarked a while back though, by Melissa DeTora and Jason Waddell. They may at least give you somewhere to start. Sorry I'm not more help :-(

Assuming that you have no anthem effects Force of Savagery does stone nothing.

Zaueski,
I do know a few terrible cards though ...

And a few that could be fun(?) depending on the other cards in your Cube ...

And you just gotta run the Band Lands: Adventurers' Guildhouse; Cathedral of Serra; Mountain Stronghold; Seafarer's Quay; and Unholy Citadel

My advice is to something other than a cube.

Bad rare draft is the perfect place for cards like Dubious Challenge or Draco or any other worthless rare you might have lying around.

The idea is that all drafters grab 45 of these and draft them together. Olay a few games with these and for next time, you end up 45 mostly new cards to bring to the next event. It makes it endlessly repeatable snd much easier to do for people with sny size collections.

Cube IS draft, cube is life.

You want 360 cards (minus lands) for an eight person cube, 180 for four people. I prefer 180.

Cube takes energy to put together so you have to ask yourself: do I want to spend a heap of energy on a cube just to shit my friends, that they will never want to play again?

If your answer is "No", I can tell you how to build a Cube in one night. The great Kaladesh set is perfect for my method.

If your answer is "Yes" you are gonna spend ages not just choosing cards, but making sure that it works ... badly.

It could meet your need to build a decent cube then do a backdraft, which is where everyone has to draft the worse cards they can, then randomly select piles and build decks. When the first person loses, the one who drafted their pile wins. You need to set a caveat that people MUST draft a normal amount of Creatures. That's the only way that backdraft fails - if one person drafts no Creatures.

Land a creature and win or wait for someone to deck themselves. Seems like a very boring thing to do if I'm honest. You've essentially got 0 interaction over the course of 30 turns if all you do is include shit cards. Your best win cons will likely be 4 mana 1/1s or something.

This is a dumb card, BTW.

Rite of the Serpent

In the right hands it could still be useful.

It may happen with this deck that someone works out a synergy you missed. Hence why it will need a LOT of playtesting.

Yeah, I'm aware of the effort level involved. This isn't something I'll have ready in quite awhile but I need a new Magic Hobby that's cheap so I stop wanting more decks and this seems like a lot of fun. There's still ways to win TheDevicer, it just requires more creativity. And watching people groan at how bad these cards are is just fun anyways.
