Beating a turn 0 win deck (NOT LEGAL IN ANY FORMAT)

If there was a format where any number of a single card was available in the deck, the best deck would be a turn 0 win with Chancellor of the Dross, revealing 7 and draining for 21. As I was thinking about this, I realized: how does the mirror matchup work? The goal would be to go second, since your Chancellors would resolve first. Is there a way you can sideboard against this, or is it all up to the coin flip in game 1? If the Chancellor was a state-based action and did not use the stack (so you would each drain for 21 and nothing would happen), what would be your sideboard plan? Is there a Leyline or another ability that could save you against this deck?

Simian Spirit Guide, Manamorphose, and Healing Salve, with one Emrakul, the Aeons Torn. You have just won the game.

I guess this why you can only have 4 copies max in a deck...

When Magic was first released, the 4-of rule didn't exist because Richard Garfield didn't think that many people would buy that many packs. I believe, back in the day, the deck to play was like 20 Black Lotus and 40 Lightning Bolts or something like that (when it was only alpha of course). That's why cards like Plague Rats don't have the text of Relentless Rats.

I think if anyone were to play this format, everyone would start on the Chancellor of the Dross plan, then Elvish Spirit Guide + Life Goes On with one Emrakul, the Aeons Torn would beat that, but then you could also play Elvish Spirit Guide + Life Goes On + 1x Channel + 1x Fireball to beat that deck as well.

This format actually sounds really interesting. Not a good long-term format, but really cool to solve.

The ability actually does use the stack. It creates a delayed triggered ability. First you reveal the card from your opening hand, this part cannot be responded to. If you do this, then at the beginning of the first upkeep the game state checks itself and sees a delayed trigger, which can be identified by the "At the beginning..." and the ability goes on the stack. The triggered ability is similar to Flickerwisps second trigger.

Never mind. I'm sorry, I'm tired and thought someone said they didn't use the stack. Carry on and ignore my last comment.

THere could also be a deck with some number of Simian Spirit Guide/Elvish Spirit Guide, Manamorphose, Flash, and Protean Hulk combo. Although not a gauranteed win every game like chancellor is, as it needs more pieces, it could win in response to any of the other decks.

check out my most recent deck it wins 100% regardless of coin flip not just against dross but against all other proposed solutions here. assuming its no banlist any amount of cards i run

33 contract from below 1 thassas oracle 1 flash 1 manamorphose 2 street wraith 1 reclaim 3 elvish spirit guides

if you want to see the proof I wrote or the explanation of how it works click the decklist but it is 100% win play or draw against dross and all other decks mentioned here.

Beat 60x Chancellor of the Dross with 30x Nourishing Shoal and 30x Elvish Spirit Guide. In response to to the upkeep trigger, exile a card to cast Shoal, gain 2-4 life, and stock up on ESG until you can cast one. You can cut this to just the Shoals and a few mulligans if you don't mind the gameplay being 100% draw-go.

Beat the Shoal Spirit Guide combo with 60x Chancellor of the Forge. Start off with seven Goblins and attack hard and fast, outpacing their defenses and lifegain.

Beat CotForge with CotDross.

All of these will probably lose to Thoracle Combo.

Something like 15x Plains, 25x Force of Will, and 20x Angel's Grace would have a strong matchup against Thoracle. Counter the key cards, Grace in response to Thoracle, and wait a turn.
