New player looking for advice with mono-green deck =)

Deck Help forum

This is the deck I am making:

(I don't know if it's just me, but I can't see the link I am making?? I am doing it correctly. Sorry, but it is this link: https://archidekt.com/decks/1968909#Weight_of_the_Forest)

EDIT: Okay the deck is now made on this site, so it should be under this profile.

Lets get all the criteria out of the way:

  • I am on a budget, and cannot spend over 100 USD.
  • The deck is mono-green.
  • The deck is Modern legal, but played casually with friends (they are also new players and have similarly priced decks).
  • I would prefer a 60 card deck as typical, but wouldn't mind going overboard up to 70 (if there is any advantage in that).
  • The link isn't really my completed deck, rather potential cards.
  • I would rather not spend over 20 bucks on a single card.
  • The idea of my deck is to pump out lots of mana early on to get out the heavy hitters, particularly the stronger hydras and the Rhox creatures.
  • While I don't have much removal spells, I do believe I have enough protection spells in the form of hexproof instants. Should I need any removal spells (if green has any good ones)?

Still very new to this so excuse me if my deck is offensively bad haha. Any advice on others cards to get and/or cards to remove from my deck would be so much appreciated.

Can't wait to get into MTG, it feels like Christmas morning. Thanks all!

I wasn’t able to view the link you posted, not sure if others can. If you wanted to add your deck to your profile, as long as it isn’t set to Private then everyone on the site would be able to view it. Just click the Create Deck tab to get started.

Have you guys considered doing pauper instead? Modern has gotten a bit pricey. Pauper actually has decent representation of all strategies and the decks barring bannings are eternal. Also, a lot of the cards are good enough to over lap into other formats like commander and in some cases legacy. Mtg goldfish has metagame data but from what you described Green stompy might be up your ally. Elephant Guide isn't modern legal but you could swap in other good cards like Lead the Stampede.

This deck/article here is probably what you’re after. It is very, very cheap, but also very powerful (probably among one of the strongest modern decks you can build for the cost).

If you go with this build, make sure your friends are getting help with their decks too, because otherwise you’ll simply wipe-the-floor with them. I would say most decks from this list should be able to keep-up, and have a fair/close game with your deck, as well as each-other (yes the prices of those decks are close to double the cost of mono-green-stompy… budget-stompy is just that good).
