Is there an infinite recursion loop for Monkey Cage , at the very least it needs a creatures to bounce in with a cmc greater than 1, as the Monkey Cage yo-yos in and out the the graveyard.

You could use Sharuum the Hegemon + Nim Deathmantle + Ashnod's Altar , however at that point any other artifact creature will make the combo work.

I don't know if there is but I fully support finding one! I've been dreaming of winning with Monkey Cage for years but I've never pulled it off.

Sharuum the Hegemon + Nim Deathmantle + Ashnod's Altar

Yes I can see this working but maybe with a Sculpting Steel or Copy Artifact , coupled with Cathodion and a Su-Chi (expensive) with a Junk Diver and a Scrap Trawler ?

However, with Metalwork Colossus because when the Monkey Cage enters and with Ashnod's Altar that is a total of 8 mana, then add in Nim Deathmantle Metalwork Colossus can be retuned to hand and cast for free, creating 11 Apes when sacking the Monkey Cage .

Think we are on to something here.

I think you can do it with Karn, Silver Golem + Nim Deathmantle + Mycosynth Lattice + Ashnod's Altar / Krark-Clan Ironworks + Metalwork Colossus + + mana.

With everything but the Colossus in play, use Karn, Silver Golem to make Monkey Cage a creature and equip Nim Deathmantle to it. Play Metalwork Colossus which will be free to cast. When sacking the cage pay the cost for Nim Deathmantle to bring back the cage. It will return but not be a creature so the Deahtmantle falls off. You'll get 11 monkeys. Sac Metalwork Colossus then sac 2 monkeys to return it to your hand. Use Karn to make the cage a creature again then sac 2 monkeys and equip the Deathmantle. Then play the Colossus again. Sac 2 monkeys to pay for the Deathmantle trigger to bring the cage back. Then loop as many times at you want. You should net 5 monkeys and mana each time through.

I think that's all right...

I think there's a problem when the Monkey Cage goes to the graveyard, on entering it it is no longer a creature. Hence Nim Deathmantle may not activate.

Goblin Welder + Thornbite Staff + one of these two in grave and the other on the field Myr Battlesphere / Monkey Cage = M&M TOKENS!!!!! (Monkeys and Myr)

Myr etb's and creates handy sacrifice tokens you can use to recur the monkey cage. You can sac the myr and recur it to get both more myr and monkeys each time.

The cage is superfluous in this combo since you could use any other artifact as a part of it, but it would work and be amusing.

edit for clarity I said you can sac and recur it for both monkeys and myr each time, but this isn't accurate since you'll only get the monkeys on the sections of the loop where the cage is on the field to see the battlesphere etb. The combo should still work, just wanted to clarify.

Mystic Reflection , Biblioplex Assistant , Bolas's Citadel to Massacar's combo and and you'll get tokens of whatever you want and cast spells that are in your graveyard by paying life.

This still doesn't need Monkey Cage to work, but it's a fun card with Goblin Welder , Thornbite Staff and a sac outlet.

There is a radio program called Infinite Monkey Cage with Brian Cox. Hence the fun in making it.

That's a good enough reason I suppose. I've used Monkey Cage in a Tasigur, the Golden Fang deck, but it wasn't really a combo or anything.

Esix, Fractal Bloom and Thieving Amalgam to trigger the cage would be super fun. It isn't infinite, but its very strong.

Thanks for making me think about the joy of Monkey Cage again. I'd built my Daretti, Scrap Savant deck years ago and discovered Monkey Cage then, but I'd never figured out how to turn it into a real win-con. Well now I've got one: Scraptacular
