Custom Categories added —May 24, 2021

For the first time, I've tried something new: I added custom categories to a deck. I'm not sure how I like it. I'd love to hear your feedback regarding the categories and if they actually help understanding the deck.

Your small creatures, especially Spore Frog might do better with some more creature recursion, maybe something like Malevolent Awakening , Undertaker or Phyrexian Reclamation , to keep a Fog effect at the ready.

EDH isn't my forte, though, so I'm not sure how good my advice here is.

legendofa: Thank you for the comment and the suggestions. This is a pretty good idea in general. I'm not the biggest fan of Undertaker here, as small creatures tend to die pretty easily thanks to Thantis's ability, and Undertaker's ability needs a target, so itvcan't always be activated to prevent it from dying. The other two are great ideas.

Gleeock: I updated it. What do you think?

Like the other guy mentioned, spore frog would be good in this deck and can be recur with Meren of Clan Nel Toth and get some extra value for your elder

It looks pretty good to me. Still looks different enough from other Thanti decks I've seen to be 'your own' deck. If you are ever having problems with frequent targeted removal on your midrange bangers you can look at Dawnglade Regent because monarch & protecting bangers is fun. Though I think the deck probably is already mana hungry & I know you're not going as much for cheating creatures in or having a high volume of monarch.

aznb01777: When that comment was written, I had a Spore Frog in here, but I dropped it recently. I don't feel comfortable including Meren in here, as there are no other ways to get Experience counters, so she'll be pretty underwhelming very often. Thanks a lot for the comment still, I always like having to think about suggestions and defending my position regarding them.

Gleeock: Thanks for the kind words. Regarding spot removal, I recently added Gargos, Vicious Watcher as a pseudo-protection. Dawnglade Regent seems terrific in here, as many times, my opponents won't be able to take the monarch from me. Thanks for that suggestion.

Very unique and cool deck have you thought about adding Kazuul, Tyrant of the Cliffs and Rite of the Raging Storm

Good Job

Heh. I notice you found my Thantis deck. Thanks for the upvote. I haven't played in the last year so all my decks are out of date, but that deck is fun. Forcing people to attack throws off the playstyle of at least half the people at the table.

One card i thought would be good with Thantis is Varchild, Betrayer of Kjeldor . Haven't tried it yet though.

carpecanum Your list still looks great. Varchild is another cool addition, I'm not too sure it really fits here, though.

How is the Thantis'ing going? Have you gotten to playtest some more? I had a solid Thantis-win this weekend. Didn't actually get to cast Thantis, but the rest of the deck forces some discomfort, so it was ok :) Consider Binding the Old Gods as a surprisingly good little utility card. I found the slow-ramp after the spendy removal to be worth it. Consider that it uses 2 important slots on one card (swiss-army knife removal, then ramp). I think it is a bit of a sleeper. If you are like me you like your removal to also keep the game moving in some way (your way :) )

Gleeock: Hey, another great suggestion. My LGS still isn't allowed to open its gaming room due to Covid, so there aren't any chances of getting a game in. I can't wait to finally get to play the deck, but I'm not even sure it will be possible before next year.
