I detail why neither is included in the "Why aren't you running...?" section.

Oh never-mind, since you say it's too risky. Competitive commander is weird, this deck especially, I was expecting more warrior tribal.

How about Phyrexian Altar? As long as you are able to create 5 or more tokens each combat, then you can produce mana to keep attacking; another plus is that you can always sac tokens if you really need mana in a pinch for an instant.

I didn't explain my reasoning for that card but it is one I've thought about. Ultimately it just kind of feels like a worse Druid's Repository and we don't really need more than 3 combo pieces with the number of tutors the deck's running.

3T, thanks for an awesome primer. This is what I came up with Najeela, the Blade Mistress It has a bit more warriors and less tutors, simply cause I miss them :(

Would Zur be any good in this deck?

October 12, 2018 4:38 p.m.

SlavicGhaespar

Zur was actually in a much earlier iteration of this deck that was heavier on stax pieces. He makes much more sense in the context of that shell, i.e. more a tap-out control build with a greater density of value enchantments. 4 mana at sorcery speed is a big commitment for this shell and, usually, you only want to pay that when it's to slam down Nature's Will.

Beyond that, Zur only fetches Druids' Repository from our win-con suite. That card is by far our worst win-con...especially when you consider that it would come into play after attacks are declared.

I am running a bit slower version, with Cryptolith Rite, and don't have Nature's Will, so I kinda have to go around that tactic, but it still works. ;)

I would recommend you remove Abrade and exchange it with the new Assassin's Trophy

Deoxon

You sure you're looking at the most recent version of the decklist? I updated it with Assassin's Trophy the day the card became legal for tournament play. :)

So im pretty sure im going to build this deck im starting to work on it and there is a lot of permant based disruption in my meta and lots of storm so im adding the study and the meltdown what are thoughts on adding a blink of an eye along with the into to roil and what would be your choice for cuts

October 16, 2018 4:11 p.m.

UnbanTwin

Depends a lot on the type of permanent-based disruption. Najeela can honestly just ignore a fair bit of it as-is while still applying pressure. This is especially nice if the disruption in question is especially effective against the Storm decks you mention, since you can kind of just leave it to them to try and find an answer while beating the table down and accumulating value.

If there is, in fact, that many permanents you need to address to be able to go off then bounce spells might not be your best bet. You may need harder removal. Have you considered Wear // Tear?

ETA on budget section for the list?

Would it be merely replacing expensive cards with placeholders or an adjusted list?

Have you considered Bring to Light? Essentially 4 mana to play Derevi straight from the library, with najeela in play and 8 mana it could lead to a win.

Any update on a budget version of this list? I’m building Najeela right now but have a really small budget per month I can put into it!

You mention Bloom Tender but then he’s not in the main deck

What do you think of aura shards in a deck like this?

December 1, 2018 12:29 p.m.

BattousaiYngwie

Good card into the right meta. In general we're not trying to run people out of resources though--we're mostly trying to address specific problem permanents right before trying to win. Aura Shards makes more sense in the context of a really grindy control or stax deck.

So why are you only running one forest as basic lands? Shouldn't you throw in maybe 1 Swamp for tutoring for answers to nonbasic hate like Blood Moon, Ruination, etc.? I think maybe 1 more basic would be good.

December 3, 2018 4:42 p.m.

Zenaku17 says... #24

It’s because of Tainted Pact and the point is to win as soon as possible. The deck also has a lot of answers to everything you listed

December 3, 2018 5:48 p.m.

Jimothy_III says... #25

Well obviously you don't run 2 basics. I just didn't know what you would do if you got hit with stax and couldn't either remove or tutor to remove that piece. My idea of adding a basic was to have access to one more color of basic land to get better access to removal in the face of nonbasic hate. Like fetching in response to the color you need, not just getting stuck with only green if you need another color to fight that stax piece. Just a thought.
