The Lowering of the Curve —Oct. 3, 2016

Took the deck to FNM and got a bit pounded to be honest. I played 1v1 though which this deck wasn't meant for so that might have something to do with it. In any case, I realized that I needed to lower my curve so I made some changed which look pretty good even though I'm really sad to see the cards they're replacing relegated to the maybeboard.

Artisan of Kozilek >> Haunted Cloak - My favorite add. Haunted Cloak pulls its weight with all the mana dorks in the deck in addition to the patron. The trample and vigilance is upside. I chose the vigilance over the other variations of this card like Chariot of Victory because vigilance lets me attack with the patron and leave mana untapped for other turns. Artisan of Kozilek will be missed. I just had to bite the bullet and admit that if I got to his mana cost I'm either already about to win or its too late and he doesn't do enough.

Ring of Three Wishes >> Cloudthresher - Ring of three wishes was amazing and it really helped me get my combo pieces...I'll probably put it back but I was just going to see how this change worked. Cloudthresher is good as a surprise blocker and Jeleva at FNM made me realize how little reach I actually had in this deck. Plus I can do the Squall Line trick and burn people out when I'm on-combo which is neat.

The Great Aurora >> Reclamation Sage - I love the great aurora but unfortunately my curve was just too dang high and I need some disruption in the early game.

Dosan the Falling Leaf >> Hall of Gemstone - ;_[ Dosan was just too low impact in the early game. He was great for his intended purpose (protecting the combo), but the Hall is just brutal in comparison. Will definitely keep Dosan around to reduce the power of this deck though in a casual environment.
