Total Overhaul —April 26, 2020

Previous testing revealed a deck that just didn't work. Relying on saboteurs is just too vulnerable to interference. A complete overhaul centered around Baleful Strix and bringing in Unearth has resulted in a much more resilient deck.

Wow, that deck is amazing! I love your description too.

Ashnod's Altar (was common in Chronicles) could be an interesting choice to use as a support card. But it affect the budget of the deck. The best suggestion I see is Rendclaw Trow as a defender. The persist mechanic can be really interresting combine to the undying one. When it dies the first time, it comes back with the -1/-1 (Persist). The next time the creature die, you got it undying, so when it comes back, there's no -1/-1, but a +1/+1 on it. If it dies again, well, persist can trigger and it comeback as a 1/1 (again). In the same time, you make your commander come back again and again, everytime, and you trigger your other cards!

Beside that, I don't see how I could improve this deck! It looks pretty solid to me! I would love to see how it perfom.

Thanks, glad you like it so much!

Yeah, Rendclaw Trow is indeed capable of some silly value. I have a feeling that he's just a bit too slow though; after all, thanks to my Noble I'll always have a three drop blocker available, and if I'm still dropping blockers on turn 4 I'm losing to anything that isn't stompy.

Now, Ashnod's Altar is more plausible. The deck is super mana hungry and has six creatures with in their casting cost, but that may not be enough - in fact, playing the Altar is probably the circumstance that would make the Trow more attractive since it also has in its cost.

I'll put them both in the maybeboard for now and try subbing them in whenever I actually get to build this deck.
