Engulfing slagwurm vs godsend

Hello everyone, i have a question about how these two things would resolve. Recently my friend acquired a deck with Godsend, however in my green deck i put Engulfing Slagwurm, these both have removal effects, however i do know that engulfing slagwurm's resolves before combat and happens when blockers are declared. Could someone help clarify when godsend's ability to exile resolves during or before combat?

They both resolve in the declare blockers step, and actually trigger from near identical situations. When you either declare Slagwurm (or creature /w Godsend) as a blocker, or they are declared blocked, their respective abilities will trigger, having their effects before the combat damage step happens.
