So apparently Ashiok is Jace?

This makes no sense to me. Apparently it is revealed in Thunder Junction that Ashiok is actually Jace?

So what, when Jace was trapped on Ixalan and unable to leave, he was also Ashiok terrorizing all of Theros?

And when Jace was actively trying to stop Bolas from destroying other worlds, he was Ashiok spreading fear and plights across them?

And as Jace understood the true terrors that the Phyrexians posed, Ashiok understood and was enthralled by it?

And when Jace succumbed to the Phyrexians and died and lost his spark, Ashiok was able to escape and survive?

This literally makes no damn sense

As I understand it, courtesy of Mark Rosewater and contrary to a semi-serious prediction of mine from several years ago here, Jace was simply disguised/illusioned as Ashiok. It's still possible Jace will be Ashiok with some time funkiness, but they're currently two separate entities.

Yeah I think that Jace has, somehow, got wind of Ashiok's dealings and then exploited that to masquerade as them at strategic intervals to achieve his own goals. I'm whoolly expecting Ashiok to probably seek to retaliiate against Jace at somepoint for doing so, but probably way later.

Ashok would definitely be an unexpected, albeit interesting, BBEG for the next story arc

My theory is that Jace is after tibalt and all of WoE was getting Kellan out of eldraine. Does he need a fairy and a big squirrel for his next masterpiece?
