Modernization

I was just thinking about Wanderlust (don’t ask) and I thought about how that could have been made differently. So here’s a fun challenge: pick a weird old card and modernize it to make it more useful and themely. For Wanderlust I liked the idea of an inattentive creature causing you a little extra pain to keep track of, but I thought this would be a good place to use the new mechanic “exert.” Making the enchanted creature exert every time it attacks (keeping it tapped an extra turn) would still allow it to be used as normal, just with more dawdling around in an inefficient manner. It’s getting late and I’m wasted tired, but I thought this could be fun (or, if this has been done before, could be fun again). Have at it!

Visions of Brutality exists. I really like this design space. I also like Captured by the Consulate, I think this is also a unique design space. I feel like these are improved versions of cards that exist like Pacifism

Considering the german meaning of Wanderlust, which is more or less joy or desire to wander away (thus being a positively connotated variation of Fernweh Pain for far away places), I could imagine something like this:

Wanderlust

Enchantment

When ~ enters the battlefield, goad each creature you don't control.

Whenever a player attacks with one or more creatures, exile up to one creature that player controls. Its controller gains life life equal to its toughness. Return it to the battlefield under its owner's control at the beginning of their next declare attackers step.

This combines Disrupt Decorum with triggers similar to Meandering Towershell and Verdant Sun's Avatar.
